Ag Retail Council Overview Minimize

AgGateway’s Ag Retail Council (AR) is composed of companies that deliver agricultural inputs to growers.

Members of the AR Council recognize the significant benefits that the standardized implementation of information and communication technologies (eBusiness) can have on their individual operations, their customers, and on the agriculture industry in general.  Over the several years leading up to the formation of the AR Council, AgGateway’s focus has mainly centered on manufacturers and distributors of agricultural inputs.  The time is right to connect the retail link in the Ag supply chain.

Retailers are the “face” of agriculture to growers.  The products and services they provide to growers span the spectrum of agricultural inputs. Crop nutrition, crop protection, seed, and other segments in AgGateway have standardized transactions and business processes in order to position the industry to “connect” to retailers.  The founding companies of the AR Council believe that streamlining the business connection between these varied segments using eBusiness will be critical to efficient and effective retail operations now and in the future.

Mission

The Retail Council’s mission is to be the voice of the retailer in activities related to the standardization and use of eBusiness in the agriculture industry.

Goals & Objectives

  • Improve transactional efficiency between ag retail and their suppliers;
  • Expand the community of ag retailers who participate in AgGateway/connectivity, etc.;
  • Standardize and streamline the movement of information between ag retail and other “links” in the Ag supply chain;
  • Educating ag retail about eBusiness and AgGateway,
