Allied Providers Council Overview Minimize

The AgGateway community is comprised of organizations serving various roles across multiple segments within the agricultural channel.  The expectation is that this community will become more diverse in the future.  The Allied Providers are a sub-segment of the agricultural community that conceive, design, build, deploy and support electronic information management systems and accompanying services to the broad array of AgGateway members.  An Allied Provider may deploy one or more unique and / or proprietary channel-specific systems or services.  Allied Providers support the establishment of standards that enable electronic connectivity between all consenting channel members, regardless of the specific system used.

The establishment of eBusiness industry standards is a function of AgGateway as a whole.  However, the Allied Providers, individually and as a group, often have practical insights and business expertise regarding the deployment of solutions and / or services of this type.  The purpose of this Council is to create a formal venue in which commercial technology and service providers can provide guidance and council to other members of AgGateway regarding issues that impact standards. It is not the council’s role to develop technology solutions.  It is the role of the council to assist and advise in creating standards that will support the business objectives of AgGateway members.

Mission

Create a forum in which agricultural information service providers can review, discuss and provide organized feedback to the members of AgGateway about issues pertaining to the design and implementation of standards that support electronic solutions.

Goals & Objectives

  • Advise AgGateway in the establishment of standards which create a framework for individual solutions;
  • Help ensure solutions and programs are within the reach of all targeted channel members;
  • Act as a technical advisor to AgGateway
  • Conduct and facilitate educational activities in support of AgGateway’s goal of educating target segments in the techniques and benefits of eBusiness/eCommerce.
