Implementation: Harvesting our Hard Work

By Brent Kemp, AgGateway President and CEO

Harvest is well underway across the Northern Hemisphere. In fact, I was talking to our EVP and resident farmer Jeremy Wilson at the beginning of September, and he was in the combine this year earlier than he could ever remember. It’s a little reminder that while we plan and prepare and put in the effort to produce a crop or product or service, sometimes the end result arrives earlier – or later – than we expect. Read more >

Portfolio Update

Persistence and Progress

By Ben Craker, Portfolio Manager

When it comes to the methodical, detail-focused work we do through the working group process at AgGateway, the headline news is more often about the solid progress each working group is making towards their common goals. And that’s the theme of this month’s portfolio update: persistence.

While there are no big announcements of completed work right now, several teams are continuing to make incremental process toward a wrap-up at the annual meeting in November. Also following the round table discussions at the mid-year meeting we are getting ready to kick off several new projects. Be on the lookout for a call to participate for Working Group 36 on GTIN usage in seed messaging. Read more >

Latin America

Next Online Member Meeting This Month

By Jose Alexandre Loyola, Region Director

The LATAM Region will host its second online member meeting of the year on 27 October from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The event will include a roundtable discussion featuring operations professionals from a major sugarcane mill group, a large grain production company, and a large forestry company. The discussion will focus on the practical solutions each of these companies used to overcome challenges associated with field data interoperability.

I am also pleased to share that we have created a WhatsApp group involving the owners of the leading agronomic recommendation platforms in Brazil: Datafarm, InCeres, Geodata, Telus Ag, and Sensix, with support from AgGateway. The object is to discuss an initiative promoting data exchange interoperability among these platforms. On 7 October, we will hold the group's second online meeting to move the initiative forward and discuss its scope and next steps.

The purpose of the event is for agricultural equipment manufacturers, technology producers, and software providers to come together and directly test the compatibility of their systems and products based on the ISO 11783 standard and AEF’s implementation guidelines and conformance tests. AEF holds a similar event in North America in the first quarter of the year. Read more >
