By Jose Alexandre Loyola, Regional Director
On 27 October, AgGateway Brazil held its Virtual Members Meeting on data interoperability, AI, and data management in agricultural operations. More than 20 participants joined from large producer groups (Bracell, Tereos, Grupo Schaeffer), machinery and technology companies (AGCO, John Deere, Stara, Solinftec, Kabel Electronic, TELUS Agronomy), research institutions (Embrapa and Embrapa Territorial) and service providers (PwC, IB Log).
Producers managing hundreds of thousands of hectares and thousands of machines described the hidden costs of non-standardized data: KPIs that can't be unified across brands, large analyst teams dedicated to cleaning raw data, delayed decisions, and cabs with up to five monitors.
Participants agreed that AI only delivers value when it runs on reliable data, and that the main barrier to interoperability today is cultural rather than technical. That reinforces AgGateway's role as the neutral forum where competitors, customers and suppliers build open standards together.
The meeting also covered updates on AEF/ISOBUS developments (High Speed ISOBUS, In-Field Communication, TIM), soil-lab data standardization and the 2027 Regional Steering Committee.
We urge members to mark your calendars on 24 November, when we will hold our final in-person members meeting of the year We hope you will join us from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Brasilla time (BRT) at Venturus in Campinas, SP, with a workshop on Quantum Computing in Agriculture.
