As AgGateway’s many digital connectivity and interoperability projects continue to move forward, the constantly evolving impact of artificial intelligence technology presents myriad challenges to the work of our member volunteers and staff. How can the organization harness this powerful tool to improve how standards are developed and implemented, and what role will the organization play to help members successfully navigate their own internal AI development?
This and many other critical industry topics around digital connectivity and interoperability will be in focus at the 2026 AgGateway Annual Meeting and Conference this November in Nashville, TN.
The Annual Meeting and Conference is the one place where digital connectivity stakeholders from across the agriculture value chain come together to share ideas, work on key projects, assess the state of connected agriculture, and set a course for the future of the organization.
An important goal for the event is getting our volunteer leadership and members together to discuss current and future projects that AgGateway is coordinating. But all digital connectivity stakeholders in agriculture are welcome to attend and will find compelling content and speakers, experts on every facet of digital agriculture, the spirit of collaboration, and a passion for advancing a more connected and efficient industry.
Key Project Updates are presented by AgGateway staff and member volunteers, reporting on project progress over the past 12 months.
Targeted Roundtable Discussions offer the opportunity to interact with representatives from leading agriculture organizations. Topics will focus on important issues including the impact of artificial intelligence on AgGateway’s work and the work of its members.
Keynote Presentations and Expert Panels share expertise and provide perspective that sets the stage for high value networking.
Networking and Learning. The top developers of connectivity solutions from agriculture’s largest organizations attend the Annual Meeting and Conference to discuss and work on connectivity solutions being created through the AgGateway portfolio development process. And CIOs from across the ag value chain attend the event to find out about ongoing trends in digital agriculture and how they will impact the industry.
Gateway To Ag Careers. Since 2007, this AgGateway fellowship hosts top performing undergraduate and early postgraduate students considering a career in agriculture technology to the Annual Meeting and Conference to network with attendees and learn more about the wide range of career opportunities available. Top universities from across the United States nominate students for the award.

"A Farmer's Warning to the Industry: AI Is Changing What Farmers Will Pay For. Are You Ready?"

After spending the last three years traveling the world studying how AI is being applied in agriculture, Windemuller returned home and began building his own AI tools for his dairy farm to solve the everyday frustrations of disconnected systems and scattered data. What he discovered completely changed the way he thinks about agricultural technology. As AI becomes more capable, many of today's competitive advantages will disappear. The question isn't whether AI will change agriculture; it's whether your company will still be creating value when AI changes what farmers are willing to pay for.
Paul Windemuller is a first-generation dairy farmer and an internationally recognized authority on the integration of artificial intelligence in agriculture. From his own robotic dairy operation in Michigan to conversations with AI researchers, agritech founders, and policymakers worldwide, he bridges the practical and the visionary—connecting the cow barn to the boardroom, and technology to stewardship. Windemuller’s work focuses on understanding how innovation in farming, data, and emerging technologies can strengthen farms while preserving producer autonomy. He also hosts AgCulture Podcast, featuring unique stories, ideas, and conversations from across the global agricultural landscape.

For the second year in a row, agriculture policy expert Mary Kay Thatcher will share her perspectives on the direction policy and regulation will be headed in the wake of one of the most highly anticipated mid-term elections in history.
Mary Kay Thatcher’s experience in agriculture policy is virtually unmatched in the industry. Since 1981, she has been instrumental in shaping nine Farm Bills, developing legislation like the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987, enhancing crop insurance programs, and establishing agricultural data privacy standards. She served in key positions at the American Farm Bureau Federation, Farm Credit Administration, on Capitol Hill, and at Syngenta, always with a focus on crop insurance, conservation initiatives, and farm safety net programs. She has delivered hundreds of presentations on topics ranging from pesticide regulation to trade policy, and she has represented U.S. agriculture at international conferences and World Trade Organization negotiations.
