Mid-Year Meeting

Still on the Fence? Here’s 5 Reasons to Attend the North America Mid-Year Meeting

By Paul Schrimpf, Marketing and Communications Director

The North America Mid-Year Meeting kicks off next week, and if you’ve not registered there is still time to join us for a terrific week of networking and learning in Altoona, IA.

“We’re excited to once again bring our members back together again to work on current projects and discuss new ideas for future innovation,” says Brent Kemp, AgGateway President and CEO. “While we accomplish quite a lot as an organization throughout the year through virtual meetings, nothing can replace the one-on-one interactions that take place at in-person events.”

There are plenty of reasons to attend the North America Mid-Year Meeting, but here are five absolutely essential things to consider:

Full Plate of Working Group and Committee Meetings. Whether your interest is in Field Boundaries, Soil Data, Entity ID, or long-term plans for the next version of ADAPT, the Mid-Year Meeting will have you covered.

Education Sessions. The Mid-Year Meeting offers something for both seasoned veterans and those new to AgGateway. A full slate of orientation sessions on Day 1 and two AGIIS introductory education programs are available.

We have also invited the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ Joint Technology Leadership Group (combined ag and construction) to discuss its work on a common language for data layers, cyber security, and autonomy in non-road equipment. And in the session, “Common Misconceptions About Cybersecurity in System Environments,” Sven Nowak, Head of Cyber Security and Functional Safety at TÜV Rheinland of North America, will explore effective methods to mitigate cyber risks at a system-wide level.

Keynote Presentation. Matt Waits, who currently is Strategy Lead and Co-Founder of TwelveFive, a data consulting firm helping agribusinesses solve complex data challenges, served for nearly two decades as an executive with SST Software and Proagrica. His presentation, “Beyond Standards – Building the Integration Ecosystem Agriculture Actually Needs,” will draw on his deep experience and reflection on where we are as an industry today, and his view on the best path forward.

Quick Connect. AgGateway in-person events always feature the opportunity for trading partners to get together for private, one-on-one discussion about challenges and opportunities with connectivity solutions through the Quick Connect program. Once you register you can sign up to participate in the program by scheduling meetings with your trading partners of choice.

Networking and Fun. From our Monday evening “Night at the Races” (featuring actual horse racing!) to all the lunches, breaks and other gathering opportunities, you’ll be sure to find time to spend with long-time colleagues and make new connections as well. As our Executive Vice President and COO Jeremy Wilson always says, “a lot of the time we can get more work done at the appetizer table than we can in the meetings!”
