Team Revamp Shifts Focus to Maintenance and Enhancements in 2026

By Jeremy Wilson, EVP/COO and North American Director

As I’m sure you are aware, a couple of years ago we made the decision to invest in a process that would allow AgGateway to convert the ADAPT toolkit from a module imbedded into software platforms to read/write various file formats via licensed plugins, to a full-blown standard for exchanging field operations data.

Now that the ADAPT Standard and its companion Toolkit plugin have been fully released to the agriculture market, AgGateway’s attention has shifted from “build” mode to “maintenance” mode.

In the initial inception of the ADAPT toolkit, we formed two different teams with recurring meetings: a technical meeting and business meeting. The technical meeting was where the actual development work got done, while the business meeting was the place where potential enhancements to ADAPT were evaluated and recommended.

Late last year, we reevaluated this meeting regimen given the change in ADAPT’s status and have implemented the recommendations that came out of those discussions. To review, we will continue to support maintenance of the ADAPT Toolkit and AgGateway managed plugins but will not be investing time or resources into further development. The focus on features and enhancements will shift 100% to the ADAPT Standard.

In 2026, all prior meetings related to ADAPT will be rolled into a single monthly meeting that covers technical and business issues and ADAPT Standard development. Stuart Rhea, Dan Danford, and Kelly Nelson, each of whom were instrumental in making the ADAPT Standard a reality, will co-lead the meeting going forward.

It is our hope that the change will lead to improved identification and throughput on enhancements and new development, more overall volunteer participation, and a reduction in the number of meetings will allow member volunteers to focus on the work.

We’re excited that ADAPT Standard is released and look forward to continuing to steward this high-value product for membership and the industry at large. To find out more, or to serve on the ADAPT Standard team, contact Member Services.
