AgGateway’s Ag Retail Council is composed of companies that deliver agricultural inputs to growers. AgGateway has already enabled a number of these sectors – crop nutrition, crop protection, seed, and others – to standardize transactions and business processes. The council is focused on connecting the retail link in the ag supply chain.

Streamlining the business connection between these varied segments using eBusiness will be critical to retail operations now and in the future.

The Ag Retail Council’s mission is to be the champion for the retailer in eAgriculture.

The council continues to promote and encourage additional connections between trading partners to further streamline transactions along the value chain. Some tactics include:

Quick Connect Sessions: These sessions, often held in conjunction with AgGateway meetings, are brief, face-to-face meetings between trading partners that allow ag retailers, distributors, manufacturers and their software vendors to lay out concrete next steps to establish electronic connections. The goal is to streamline transactions – including for crop nutrition, crop protection and seed products – in price sheets, contracts, ordering, delivery, invoicing, sales reporting, and inventory management, to boost efficiency, accuracy and productivity. Many participants in these sessions report that they pursue specific implementations as a result -- with major ramifications for improvements in their businesses.

Case Studies: 

Spread the Word at Conferences/Trade Shows: Equip and confirm the participation of AgGateway members to represent AgGateway at key meetings, including the Ag Retailers Association (ARA) Convention & Expo and other trade shows. Work to get eConnectivity sessions and discussions on conference agendas.
