By Chris Crutchfield, AGIIS Product Manager
After a long snowy winter in the Midwest, signs of spring are finally beginning to surface. The days are getting longer, trees are beginning to bud out, grass is greening up, and forgotten perennials are beginning to make another appearance. This means it is time for me to get outside and begin some spring-cleaning efforts like preparing the garden for planting, treating the yard, and opening our little back yard pond.
This can all be quite a bit of work, but the effort I put in now will allow me to relax later and enjoy the fruits of my labor come summer.
Of course, spring cleaning doesn’t have to be limited to chores around the house. For example, now is a great time for AGIIS subscribers to perform a subset review and clean-up effort. If you are maintaining an AGIIS subset, I suggest running a subset extract report that provides the names and associated demographics of all entities in your subset. Use this report to cross-reference against your internal system to help ensure all customer information is up to date, either in the AGIIS database or internally. Customers to which you no longer conduct business should be removed from your subset. Ensuring an accurate subset will pay off later in the reporting season by reducing transaction errors and limiting manual research.
I urge you to take a little time to spring clean your AGIIS subset. When the busy fall season is upon you, you will be glad you did! To request a subset extract, hover over the FILES menu in AGIIS, click on the SCHEDULE EXTRACTS link, then the REQUEST ENTITY SUBSET EXTRACT button. You will be notified via email when your report is ready.
Keep in mind that some subsets may be too large to produce a report during normal operating hours. If this is the case, simply contact Member Services and request that it be generated off-hours. As always if you have any questions about requesting a subset extract or subset maintenance, please feel free to contact Member.Services@AgGateway.org.
