AgGateway’s Collaborative Role Highlighted at Regional Seminar

By Brent Kemp, AgGateway President and CEO

I was privileged to attend both the December Europe Steering Committee meeting and the AgGateway Europe Year-End Seminar, hosted by AgroEDI Europe at their Paris offices.

The volunteer leaders on the steering committee laid out their priorities for regional work in the coming year. They identified an important role for AgGateway in bringing together existing national standards groups and stakeholders together to help them understand the state of resources and implementation across Europe.

A case in point is the Europe eInvoicing Initiative. Individual countries may already have distinct implementations, so AgGateway’s role is less about developing another standard message and more about bringing parties together to harmonize the existing work across borders.

Some key concepts and takeaways from the member meeting include:

  • Agriculture is a broad topic, and stakeholders should work to understand the capabilities and drivers of each segment and stakeholder. This is especially true when crossing related but distinct segments – for example, grains and ingredients into feed and animal agriculture.
  • Solutions are often farmer focused, but for the industry to achieve wide implementation and acceptance means they should not be farmer exclusive.
  • Efficiencies are required at all levels of the supply chain, and implementation of standards-based tools and data exchange helps stakeholders identify and act on opportunities for efficiency.

In 2026, the Europe Region expects to hold two in-person meetings and is currently working on locations and dates. For more information, reach out to Region Director Conny Graumans.
