Consider How AgGateway Will Make Your 2018 Great!

By Josh Wall  AgGateway AGIIS Product Director

It’s February and most of us are getting settled into 2018 – days filled with conference calls, meetings and a steady stream of emails. But before we get too far into the new year and the busy season, it’s a perfect time to consider what’s scheduled and what needs more attention in the months ahead. Consider the projects your company will embark on that involve electronic connectivity – or, better yet, consider the processes that are cumbersome, inefficient and need improvement. Consider today how AgGateway can assist in making your job easier and your company more productive!

Maybe this is the year your company will get connected – or get more connected – in the crop protection, crop nutrient or seed industry. There are several resources available on the AgGateway website under the “Get Connected” tab that you may find beneficial. These resources range from value calculators to implementation guidelines. For example, among the AgGateway resources is the recently updated CLICK tool. This tool is available to AgGateway members to help business analysts and developers comprehend and implement AgGateway standards – check it out.

A major resource is the Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS), an agricultural reference data service widely used by agricultural companies for entity, location and product identifiers. This is a robust resource that provides the basic building blocks for eConnectivity, helping to automate the data exchange between agri-businesses. Last December, AgGateway hosted and recorded a webinar regarding the value and benefits of using AGIIS in eConnectivity. I would encourage you to check out the AGIIS webinar here. Additionally, AgGateway has recently collaborated with ResponsibleAg to add new look-up functionality within AGIIS that allows fertilizer manufacturers, distributors and retailers to quickly and automatically confirm that locations they are doing business with are certified for safe fertilizer storage and handling.

Another great idea for getting connected is to attend your AgGateway council conference calls as a way to engage in the organization and explore initiatives the industry is working on that can bring value to your company. When you join these calls, speak up! Ask questions and offer ideas for areas the council should focus on.

The above examples are just a few ways AgGateway can assist your company, but there are many more opportunities not mentioned here. I would encourage you to get engaged, leverage the resources AgGateway offers and help steer your company toward greater success this new year.
