By Jim Wilson, AgGateway Standards Director
AgGateway members are invited to join us for a face-to-face meeting of the Soil Testing Standardization Working Group, Monday, March 18th and Tuesday, March 19th, at Land O’ Lakes in Minneapolis, to work on identifying and/or setting soil-testing standards.
Please indicate your attendance plans at https://aggateway.atlassian.net/wiki/x/sgeAMQ. (You’ll need to be logged into the AgGateway wiki to access this link; Member Services can assist if you need a log-in.)
As background, over 20 people met on December 13 at CHS in Minneapolis to identify top soil-testing requirements, identify standards-options to address those requirements, and determine a path forward. AGCO's Corina Ardelean agreed to lead the Working Group. The group agreed that Corina and myself would meet with the leaders in MODUS development; we have done that, and those leaders are generally agreeable to a process where MODUS resources can be provided as input into the AgGateway effort. The group also agreed that Corina would reach out to soil-testing labs. She has done that, with encouraging results. More details later.
Anyone with an interest in soil standardization should be sure to let us know, and hopefully you’ll be able to join the meeting this month.
