By José Alexandre Loyola, AgGateway Latin America Regional Director
On May 5, members of AgGateway in Latin America held a meeting through videoconference, with the participation of two very special external guests: Charles Peeters, CEO of GAPES; and Ronei Sana, Agriculture Coordinator for Precision of the SLC Group. Both professionals shared their experiences as end users of technologies in their companies that cultivate large areas of soy, corn and cotton. They gave their perspectives in relation to the current digital technologies available and their advantages and points for improvement, as well as the challenges they are facing in the field in the implementation and integration of data and various platforms. Interoperability continues to be an area of difficulty, and the ability to integrate some digital platforms (e.g., weather forecast platform) with farm management systems.
There were 25 participants in the meeting, and the feedback was very positive. With this information and insights in mind, we intend to focus our discussions at the next meeting on the main demands regarding digital agriculture to be improved in the Latin American region.
