AgGateway’s Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS) provides a repository for industry common data elements that serve as the fundamental building blocks for efficient electronic interactions between agricultural companies. Today, AGIIS contains 5.3 Million entities and 221,000 agricultural products ranging from crop protection chemicals, seed and fertilizer.
AGIIS is a “living” directory that is constantly being updated and enhanced. It features a Web interface that allows AGIIS subscribers to easily add and maintain products.
Each December, we perform a series of AGIIS maintenance activities in order to maintain data integrity within the database. These activities may update entity demographics, so it is important for AGIIS subscribers to understand when each maintenance activity is being performed so that any resulting changes to entity demographics can be applied to their internal systems.
Below is the planned schedule of events, along with a brief description of each maintenance activity. Member Services will send all AGIIS subscribers a communication one week in advance of each maintenance activity, and again on the Friday preceding each event. Subscribers that receive a daily, weekly or monthly update extract will receive an additional update extract containing updates that result from a maintenance activity.
Global Location Numbers (GLN) that are eligible for reuse were posted to the AGIIS website. These are GLNs that have been inactive for four years and are eligible to be placed into the GLN Reuse Pool, meaning they can be reassigned to a new entity. Subscribers have 45 business days to review this list and add an exemption to the GLN which will prevent it from being added to the Reuse Pool.
Locatable Address Conversion System (LACS) - LACS updates are made to rural route addresses, replacing them with a physical address.
National Change of Address (NCOA) - NCOA updates are applied to entities in AGIIS that have reported an address change to the U.S. Postal Service.
City/State Review - Entities are reviewed to ensure the city and state validate with the postal code assigned.
Address Standardization Update - Addresses on AGIIS entities will be standardized according to US Postal Service standards.
Subscribers that receive a daily, weekly or monthly Update Extract received their normal update extract on Saturday, December 5. Updates to subscriber subsets resulting from annual maintenance were sent in a separate file on Sunday, December 6.
The annual de-duplication process identifies duplicate entities in AGIIS and determines one surviving record based on a set of survivorship prioritization rules.
Subscribers that receive a daily, weekly or monthly Update Extract will receive their normal update extract on Saturday, December 12. Updates to subscriber subsets resulting from annual de-duplication will be sent in a separate file on Sunday, December 13.
GLNs eligible for reuse that have not been exempted during the 45-business day review period will be added into the GLN Reuse Pool.
