By Paul Schrimpf, Director of Marketing and Communications

With the AgGateway North America Annual Conference now just 10 weeks away, the time is now for members to begin locking in plans to join us in Austin, TX USA this November. The keynotes are set, the agenda is nearing completion, and deadlines for the early registration discount and hotel room block are fast approaching.

Here are six things you need to know:

  1. The early registration rate deadline for attendees is only two weeks away! Register before Midnight central time US on Monday, 16 September to save $100 per person.
  2. The room block at the Downright Austin Hotel expires on 20 October. If you are planning to attend be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible to ensure you get the best rate.
  3. The agenda is nearing completion, and you can find the most up-to-date version linked here.
  4. The keynotes featured during our two general sessions on 11 and 12 November are focused on challenges and opportunities in data gathering and environmental reporting for sustainability and carbon programs.
The Monday keynote, titled “Data Gathering for Environmental Reporting: Views from the Field,” features a panel discussion moderated by our EVP and COO Jeremy Wilson. Two of the panelists represent ag retailers who are in the field and plugged into challenges and opportunities in data gathering for environmental reporting in sustainability and carbon programs: Brian Henze from Growmark; and Trey Colley from Greenpoint Ag. Also joining the panel is Michael Gomes, vice president, sustainability at Topcon. With expertise in field computing and data collection and the impact of each on the value chain, Gomes and will share his perspective on how we achieve success with the environmental reporting data we acquire.
For the second keynote we invited Andrew Selck, Partner in consulting firm Kearney’s Agriculture and Food Practice, to present on the critical role of data in sustainability credit markets, and what agriculture can learn and apply from data standardization efforts in other industries.
  5. Member Services is again providing an extensive orientation program for first time attendees and members wanting to learn more about AgGateway resources. Check the agenda and plan to arrive early if you want to take advantage of this program.
