Portfolio Management Center

Welcome Dan Berne as Portfolio Manager

By AgGateway Communications Director Susan Ruland

AgGateway is excited to welcome Dan Berne in the role of Portfolio Manager, leading up the new Portfolio Management Center. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the content and management of the AgGateway work portfolio. Specifically, Dan will work to facilitate, manage and communicate the success of AgGateway working groups. He will work with a group of volunteer members on the Portfolio Management Team; Dan will be coordinating with member companies to identify candidates for that team.

Dan is a market strategist and portfolio manager with more than 30 years’ experience leading product and project teams. He has worked in the agricultural sector for the past eight years, serving as the Business Strategist for precision irrigation for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA). Many AgGateway members will know Dan from his tremendous contributions as Project Manager for the PAIL precision ag irrigation project. Dan helped shepherd the adoption of two of the three parts of the new irrigation standard through AgGateway’s Standards & Guidelines Committee and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI); PAIL is now a national standard.

Before coming to the ag industry, Dan worked in high-tech, serving as the Brand and Design Manager for Hewlett-Packard inkjet printers. Dan used these skills to help the Precision Ag Council and Communications Committee update and align AgGateway’s Branding Guidelines in 2016.

Dan also developed and facilitated a week-long workshop on digital agriculture for smallholder farmers in Sub-Sahara Africa. In his spare time, Dan is a published writer, and when he’s not facilitating teams, you’ll find him at his laptop writing his next novel. He lives with his wife Aliza in Portland, Oregon.
