Crop Nutrition Task Force Develops OrderCreate Guideline

By Amanda Flemmer, CF Industries

Many Crop Nutrition companies may not have the resources or capability to send orders electronically using either the ANSI X12 850 Order message or the AgGateway XML OrderCreate message. In order to provide more ways that our crop nutrition members and channel partners could send information electronically, a task force was formed to see if an XML OrderCreate could be mapped in an Excel document to the EDI 850 X12 Order message to enable the sellers to consume those Excel files electronically.

The members of this task force were Robert Kovalsky (Mosaic), Tammy Creswell (JR Simplot), and Mike Glidden (JR Simplot). The mission of this task force was to review the XML OrderCreate and try to map each field to an X12 850 in Excel only. The purpose is to deliver an alternative “guideline” method of order integration to members. The task force team has delivered an Excel mapping spreadsheet that shows an XML OrderCreate mapped to an X12 EDI.

The Crop Nutrition Council is currently reviewing the spreadsheet and hopes to approve it at the Annual Conference. This mapping will be shared with the Standards and Guidelines Committee and also socialized with the other councils to determine if this is something they can use as well. The next steps for the task force is to do this same mapping exercise with the 855 OrderResponse and 856 ShipNotice.
