Reviewing First Quarter Priorities

While many of us have been living in a deep freeze for the past month, the activity level has been warming up for many AgGateway working groups. Most teams have had a couple of meetings since the holiday break and are back up to speed. Several groups are looking at the finish line, which also means we are starting to look at the Mid-Year meeting and what new activities will benefit from some face-to-face time. Read more >

ADAPT

New Governance Committee to Provide Strategic Focus

In response to a need for a more streamlined process for managing AgGateway’s ADAPT Standard, AgGateway has formed the ADAPT Governance Committee. Since the release of ADAPT Standard version 1.0 in June 2024, developers and data managers from around the world have been reviewing the data exchange standard and expressing interest in enhancing it to address some of the biggest data interoperability issues in agricultural field operations. While version 1.0 was designed to address core data exchange related to field operations, additional revisions are forthcoming. Read more >

March Member Meeting Preview

As the growing season is wrapping up here in Brazil, I am preparing to conduct our first in-person members meeting of 2025. The meeting will be held on 10 March at Embrapa Territorial in Campanas, SP. We will discuss, plan, and validate the main regional actions we will focus on in 2025. This includes existing and new projects, new member acquisition, events, and marketing actions. We will also take in a presentation about Embrapa Territorial's solutions. Early Days: The Foundation of Collaboration

Editor’s Note: Throughout 2025 we will share stories of the challenges and successes the organization experienced in the formation and development of AgGateway as part of our 20th anniversary celebration.

The emerging promise of digital connectivity across agriculture segments was just a gleam in the eye of industry leaders a couple of decades ago, but its potential to revolutionize the industry – and offer market dominance to the “winner” – drew significant attention and investment. Individual organizations pursued their own initiatives that they hoped would become industry standard, and the larger segments – crop protection, seed, and fertilizer – were trying to marshal their members to create standards for their own corners of the industry.
