Ag Energy Ship Notice and Other Working Group News

Here’s a brief summary of Working Group activities this month, starting with the latest news.

New! Working Group 10 (WG10): Ag Energy Ship Notice

The agricultural energy segment has a need to improve the speed and efficiency of data exchange in the shipping and receiving of product between suppliers and distributors/retailers. This includes shipment data for refined fuels, LP, and grease and lube products. The Ag Energy Ship Notice Working Group will develop and deploy a digitally connected Shipment to Invoice process for ag, commercial and consumer fuels movement. Read more >

Latin America

News from Latin America Region

We’re pleased to announce that Bruno Lucio of Topcon was elected to serve as Chair of the Latin America Steering Committee for 2021, and Warsis Slywitch of Tecgraf was elected as Vice-Chair. Our thanks to you both for your leadership!

Last month we held the first meeting of 2021 of the Latin America region. AgGateway Portfolio Manager Dan Berne presented an overview of the structure of our Digital Resource Center and Portfolio Management Center to participants, as well as a summary of the projects that are currently being developed in North America and Europe. Europe Group Considers Technical Network to Monitor Insect Biodiversity

AgGateway’s Europe Steering Committee is exploring the idea of supporting development of a technical network to automatically measure and monitor the level of insect biodiversity in fields. The idea comes from Kiran Joseph, Digital Product Manager with the Syngenta Group. Read more >

AGIIS Update

Data Privacy Compliance Leads to AGIIS Enhancement

Data privacy has been a growing concern throughout the world in recent years as more information is captured and shared digitally. With those concerns have come new data privacy laws and regulation. Recently the Directory Oversight Committee, which is the committee that oversees AgGateway’s Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS), explored the question of what impact new regulation – especially a new data privacy law in California – could have on AGIIS subscribers, and whether there are opportunities to enhance AGIIS to help companies maintain compliance. After multiple discovery sessions in 2020, the team proposed a solution to address these concerns, and in January we implemented an AGIIS data privacy enhancement. Read more >
