AgGateway Announces Leadership Transition

AgGateway has announced that President and CEO Wendy Smith is retiring effective December 31, 2021, and that current Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Brent Kemp will move into the role of AgGateway President and CEO beginning January 1, 2022.

“I am making the change to spend more time with family and friends, which is an exciting prospect, but I will miss the rich collegial experience at AgGateway, the wonderful people – members and staff – and working relationships we’ve shared, and all the progress we have made together since AgGateway was founded more than 15 years ago,” Smith said. “I’m extremely proud of everything AgGateway has accomplished and continues to accomplish.” Read more >

Join Us in Nashville Next Week!

It’s not too late to join us in Nashville! Register now for the Annual Conference, November 8-10 by using the new MyAgGateway resource.

The in-person conference will feature an array of sessions and networking opportunities for companies seeking to realize the many benefits of digital agriculture. Details are available on the Annual Conference meeting page.

Among the recent program additions:

  • Opening General Session Speaker:  AEF Initiatives and the AgGateway Partnership (Monday, Nov. 8, 4:15 pm). AgGateway collaborates with AEF (the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation) on interoperability projects in areas in which we share an interest, which generally centers on field operations. We’ll hear from Norbert Schlingmann, AEF General Manager; and Andrew Olliver, Product Manager, Precision Farming and ISOBUS for CNH Industrial and AEF Vice Chairperson and Steering Committee member. The two will share their perspectives on AgGateaway/AEF joint projects. They will also share updates on other AEF projects, including AgIN (cloud-to-cloud interoperability). The presentation highlights some of the many ways AgGateway members benefit from AgGateway’s partnerships with standards organizations and industry associations. Read more >

AgGateway Latin America News

We have been continuing our series of initiatives on social media to disseminate practical and relevant knowledge about data integration and interoperability, and standardization in the field. On our YouTube channel we have featured professionals from companies that have been using precision and digital agriculture technologies. Our most recent “live” on YouTube in October featured Ronaldo Oliveira from EMBRAPA SOLOS and Leonardo Vinícius da Prisma (both members of AgGateway). The two guests discussed with me the main challenges of soil data integration in the region. We also discussed the excellent project that is being conducted by a group of AgGateway members, led by Ronaldo, on soil laboratory data integration. Read more>

Member Services –in Person!

After nearly two years of on-line meetings and virtual conferences, I know many of us are looking forward to the in-person Annual Conference next week in Nashville, Tenn.! And with the return of an in-person event, I’m happy to once again be hosting our “Member Services Live!” desk.

What is Member Services Live? Throughout the conference, Member Services will have a table set up near registration to give you direct access to Member Services. We will have a Member Services representative available to answer questions you may have about membership, working groups, AgGateway resources and conference activities. This is also a great time to review your contact information on file with AgGateway, and learn how our new member management system, MyAgGateway, can help you manage your interactions with the organization. Now Hiring: Executive Vice President/COO and NA Regional Director

We are very fortunate to have Brent Kemp, our current Executive Vice President/ COO and North America Regional Director, stepping up to take on the leadership of AgGateway effective January 1, 2022. Brent brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a staff executive as well as an AgGateway member representative. He is well positioned to take AgGateway to the next level and ensure our continued success.

As a result of this transition, AgGateway is opening a search for a new Executive Vice President/ Chief Operating Officer and North America Regional Director.
